Dr. Satish Babu K is Senior Consultant in ENT at Manipal Hospitals, Sarjapur Road, Bengaluru. Over 27 years he has managed the full range of disorders of the ear, nose, sinuses, face, oral cavity, pharynx, larynx and neck, both medically and surgically.
His work spans seven surgical fields, from micro ear surgery and endoscopic sinus surgery to voice surgery and operations on the thyroid and salivary glands. At the most specialised end he performs advanced endoscopic surgery at the anterior skull base: repairing CSF leaks, decompressing the orbit in thyroid eye disease, decompressing the optic nerve, and removing skull base tumours through the nose without external incisions. These are procedures undertaken by a small number of ENT surgeons in the country.
He trained at PSG Institute of Medical Science & Research (MBBS, 1994), Kasturba Medical College (Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology, 1996) and Dr. B R Ambedkar Medical College (MS in ENT, 2000). He is a permanent member of the Association of Otolaryngologists of India across its Coimbatore, Manipal and Bangalore branches, and a member of the Indian Society of Otology, the Cochlear Implant Group of India and the Indian Association of Surgeons for Sleep Apnea.
He practises evidence-based medicine and follows national and international protocols in patient management. A substantial proportion of ENT complaints improve with medical treatment or time, and the aim in clinic is to establish the diagnosis properly and then say plainly which situation a patient is in, including when an operation is not the right answer.

Micro ear surgery

Correction of a deviated septum combined with reshaping of the nose, for breathing, appearance or both.

Tonsillectomy, tympanoplasty (eardrum repair), stapedotomy for otosclerosis, turbinoplasty for a blocked nose, and UPPP for snoring.
Micro laryngeal surgery
Vocal cord nodules and polyps, voice disorders, and thyroplasty to restore the voice after vocal cord palsy.
